Student Slain, Frat War Suspected
Last Wednesday, Eric Alarcon, 3rd year college student at Colegio San Juan de Letran Calamba, was shot in the head while on his way home. Witnesses have stated that someone had been tailing Alarcon while walking out of campus. Another suspect then approached Alarcon, handed him a piece of paper, then proceeded to shoot the victim. A nearby tricycle driver took Alarcon to the hospital, but the student was confirmed dead on Thursday.
Police investigations have been considering that a fraternity war is involved in the killing. Alarcon's mother has stated that she is unaware of any enemies her son may have had, while another family member confirmed that the victim was part of a fraternity.
Letran Calamba has since issued a statement assuring everyone that their campus is still safe, but still be wary of such acts of violence. Eric Alarcon was 20 years old.
