The annual provicincial festival of Laguna opened last Monday, with many noticing a significant change in its name. In recent years, the festival had been referred to as "La Laguna", but was changed this year to "Anilag". This was decided on through a decree made by a provincial board last November 2015.

While some may find this a new change, others may recall that "Anilag" was the name the festival used during the administrations of Joey Lina and Ningning Lazaro. According to Governor Ramil Hernandez, "[The festival] was renamed to 'La Laguna' by the following governor,'' referring to former governor, ER Ejercito. Governor Hernandez went on to state that festival names should remain the same regardless of who is in charge.

Anilag features products from all over Laguna such as carvings from Paete and embroidered items from Lumban, along with several events throughout the week. Festivities will last until March 5.
