In 2009, one of the biggest calamites struck our country in the form of Typhoon Ondoy. Many survivors of the tragedy were displaced from their homes. Years later, several of those survivors now call Calauan, Laguna their home, and many would say they are well on their way to building new lives for themselves. These survivors have found their home in Bayaniuan sa Southville 7 in Calauan, and are mostly self employed. They engage in a range of small businesses from makeing home made products to providing services within the community. The residents of Bayanijuan sa Southville 7 have been aided by ING Bank, a very prominent Dutch bank, and the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation. By coming together, these two organizations have provided many of the small business owners with pedicabs, which were chosen for the Dutch's affinity for biking and promoting non-motorized travel in the area.
